The Blyth & Hodsock Historical Society was founded in June 2012 by life long residents of Blyth, Martin Grocock & Keith Deakin, alongside a keen present day resident; Mike Griffiths. The named president of the society is Sir Andrew Buchanan Bt:KCVO, resident of Hodsock Priory. The Society has since expanded to include many passionate villagers, and we invite a guest speaker bi-monthly to continue historical findings and understanding.

Ambitions and Aspirations
The founding objectives of the society were to 1) "Preserve community history through the publication of a historical journal and other local history materials"2) “To Foster, in whatever way practical, a respect and love for the history of Blyth and Hodsock and to aid in its discovery, preservation and study." 3) "Study the early settlers and prominent citizens, from as far back as possible." 4) “Recover, record and preserve documents and written and oral material, related to the past" 5) "To record, by interview, the recollections, of Blyth and Hodsock, older residents, so they may be preserved for the future."
We have a very important mission here at The Blyth & Hodsock Historical Society: To educate and enlighten the minds of our visitors to the history of Blyth and Hodsock and to encourage curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, enabling further information and accounts to be collected. We believe in educating the community and passing on the joy we carry for our history. However, our work is never complete, there is always something new to discover.
